Powerstroke 2020 - 2025 6.7L
Congratulations!! You’ve got one of the most sought after trucks in the diesel line up! The most horse power and torque of any truck in it’s timeline! The 6.7L Powerstroke paired with the 10R180 another great transmission from Ford! If you have any issues with this transmission we have hunted far and wide to find the absolute BEST option for you! We have the full line of A1 Transmissions here on the site for you! You’ve heard all about the CP4 disaster, don’t worry! We have the DCR conversion here on the site. After 12 years of working in a shop that specialized in Powerstroke diesels, there are a bunch of stupid bandaids out on the market. The DCR is the only real fix and the only part we recommend. Disaster prevention kits are a waste of time. Check out the DCR conversion in the Fuel Section of our website and make sure you throw a Fleece Performance upper fuel filter adapter in place of that crappy plastic one!Vinny's Top Picks

2017-2019 Powerstroke Trucks: Awesome Ride with the 10R80 Transmission
For your 2017-2019 Powerstroke truck, the 2017-2019 Powerstroke CP4 fix and transmission changes are key.First, you’ve purchased a great truck! For example, the 2017 through 2019 models ditched the 6R140. And they switched to the 10R80. That’s another great transmission from Ford. So, if either one’s acting up, we’ve got the best options ready.Best Fixes for 2017-2019 Powerstroke Transmission Issues & CP4 Disaster
First off, if you have issues with those transmissions, we’ve hunted far and wide. In addition, we found the absolute BEST ones. That’s why we carry the full line of A1 Transmissions right here on the site.
Moreover, you’ve heard about the CP4 disaster. However, don’t worry! We stock the DCR conversion. After 12 years in a shop focused on Powerstroke diesels, I’ve seen tons of stupid bandaids.
Because of that, the DCR is the only real fix we recommend for your 2017-2019 Powerstroke CP4 fix. For instance, disaster prevention kits are a total waste; they don’t fix the root problem as the DCR does. We’ve watched too many trucks get destroyed. The CP4 fails, sends metal shavings everywhere, and ruins injectors plus rails. So, the DCR is reliable. It prevents the mess completely.Get Your 2017-2019 Powerstroke CP4 Fix & Upgrades Right Here
After that, check the DCR conversion in our Fuel Section. And definitely add a Fleece Performance upper fuel filter adapter. That’s much better than that crappy plastic one!
In short, grab these real fixes here. Your truck will stay strong because of them.Vinny's Top Picks

Powerstroke 2011 - 2016 6.7L
Welcome to Review Diesel! And congratulations on owning one of the best diesel engine and transmission combos ever put in a pickup truck! The 2011-16 Ford Powerstroke is a really great truck. The 2011-14 trucks had some turbo issues, so we’ve got a great selection of turbo upgrades for you guys to end that worry once and for all! The 2015-16’s have a great turbo from the factory, so tuner, intake, and exhaust and you guys are good to go! All of these trucks have the potentially problematic CP4 injection pump. If you are worried about the CP4, install a FASS Fuel System, or do a DCR conversion and rest at ease! Both can be found in our (Fuel System) section! Don’t waste your time on the silly disaster prevention kits, that’s a band aid that’s going to end in a less than desirable outcome.Vinny's Top Picks

Well, well, well, tell me yer rich AF without telling us yer rich AF!!!!! Congratulations on your financial status, none of us here at Review Diesel are rich enough to own the 2008-2010 6.4L Powerstroke, so we don’t! Hands down the worst engine ever put in a diesel truck, these engines simply can’t be fixed. The underlying issue that makes them extremely unreliable has never been re-engineered because there simply aren’t enough of these trucks out there to recoup the R&D costs for the manufacturers. But there’s a sunny side to this gloomy reality! You have one of the most powerful trucks ever made, and when they’re good, they’re REALLY good! A tuner, intake and exhaust is all you need to be well over 500hp to the back tires! Grab some go fast goodies here on the site, a lift kit wheels and tires so she looks as good as she runs, and grab yer ankles when those pistons crack, cause it’s going to be a wild ride!Vinny's Top Picks

Don’t let their incessant blathering scare you. Here are the facts, your truck is a maintenance baby, change you oil every 3,500 miles no matter what anyone else tells you. High Pressure Oil Injection systems are hard on engine oil. Running your oil for 5,000 miles or more, is going to result in issues. Change your fuel filters every other oil change! Flush and drain the cooling system thoroughly every other year your lack of problems will be proof that this is excellent advice! Enjoy your truck! Take really good care of it, and it will take really good care of you! An SCT Tuner or a FICM Tuner from Power Hungry performance, here on our site, are both safe and fun upgrades! Pair them with an S&B cold air intake and the turbo back exhaust from MBRP and you will have a really fun truck! If fuel economy is your goal, we have a package deal just for that!Vinny's Top Picks

Cummins
- 2019 – 2025 6.7L
Cummins 2019 - 2025 6.7L
The 6.7L Cummins has been plagued with issues all stemming from the engine design change, to emissions problems. Drive pressure issues caused by the VGT turbo and made worse by clogged up DPF’s resulted in head gasket failures like we never saw on the 5.9L Cummins. Like the rest of the industry we though adding ARP head studs would resolve the issue, it didn’t. The problem is extreme heat towards the rear cylinders and there’s only one solution we have found to address it. The Fleece Coolant bypass system resolves the heat issue, and pair with Water Methanol injection can resolve the drive pressure issue. If the DPF never get’s clogged up, we don’t have to worry about drive pressure getting out of hand. The key to making this emissions stuff work, is to get the engine running clean. Better fuel atomization means less soot in the exhaust, less soot mean fewer regens, which results in better fuel economy, and more reliable engines! - 2013-2018 6.7L

2013–2018 6.7L Cummins Performance Parts
Well, we wish we could say that Fiat taking over the Dodge lineup resolved some of the previous issues with the Cummins platform, but it didn’t. In reality, they managed to make these trucks even worse. Over the years, we’ve seen recurring failures across the 2013–2018 6.7L Cummins, especially with the turbo system and transmission, and most of them come down to misdiagnosis and poor repair decisions.
Common Turbo Issues on the 2013–2018 6.7L Cummins
Unfortunately, the factory VGT turbos on these trucks are notorious for clogging up with soot. When that happens, it destroys the VGT controller.
What Most Shops Get Wrong
Unfortunately, many dealerships and local shops only replace the actuator instead of addressing the real issue, the turbine housing itself. The result? You’re without your truck longer than necessary and end up paying labor twice because the shop diagnosed the check engine light instead of the underlying mechanical problem.
As a result, we’ve seen this hundreds of times. If a shop calls you and says you “just need a new actuator,” fire them. Get your truck out of there.
68RFE Transmission Failures We See Constantly
At the same time, the transmission is no better. If your 68RFE is stuck in fourth gear, you do not need a valve body — you need a fully rebuilt transmission.
We’ve dealt with just about every company that claims to build the “best” 68RFE. There’s only one that hasn’t let us down in a big way: A1 Transmissions. If they say there are billet parts inside that housing, you can bet the farm those parts are actually in there.
Everyone else? We’ve caught them skipping the parts you can’t see. What a joke.
The Fix We Actually Trust
If you’re dealing with VGT issues, skip the band-aid fixes. Head over to our turbo section and grab a Fleece Cheetah Turbo. We’ll even help connect you with a reputable shop that knows how to install it correctly the first time.

EGR Sucks and doesn’t work on these engines at all, it clogs the intake manifold and grid heater up with chunky disgusting soot. This destroys the engine over time and results in tons of issues we never had with the 5.9L Cummins. The VGT turbos are constantly failing and cost thousands of dollars to replace or repair. We have a ton of options for you here. If you have deleted your truck, you have even more options. While we don’t sell or condone deletes, due to their very illegal nature. We do have better turbo option for trucks that were deleted before you found us! If your poor truck still have all the emissions in tact, you can still make good horse power with all that garbage on there. We’ve been doing it for years! The most important thing to do is a stage 3 water methanol injection system. The stage 1 and stage 2 kits are worthless, don’t waste your time with them. Water methanol injection will clean that soot build up from the EGR out of your intake manifold and keep it clean as long as you keep using the system. - 2011-2016 (LML)
Duramax 2011 - 2016 LML
The LML Duramax has a pretty rotten reputation in the Duramax community. It’s the first year of Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF), and that garbage DOESN’T work.
While it’s still extremely illegal to delete Federal Emissions Equipment, that is the only solution to reduce the major issues with the DEF System.
Since we can’t sell those products without getting into major legal trouble, we’ve had to figure out how to live with these problematic components. The diesel emissions components are in place to trap and recycle diesel particulates.
Once those particulates have been trapped, they have to be dealt with. Diesel Exhaust Fluid helps clean the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) so if we can stop the DPF from clogging up, we can reduce the amount of time the DEF has to function.
The best way to make a diesel engine run cleaner is to increase the fuel atomization. This can be done in several ways.
Adding a Fass Fuel System helps condition the fuel and increase supply pressure. This is a great place to start, and it also takes a lot of stress off the extremely problematic CP4 injection pump.
REALLY good tuning will also help with fuel atomization, we ONLY recommend PPEI tuning for our Duramax customers.
With the FASS and the Tuning working together, the next thing we’ve found that works really well is water methanol injection. Water methanol increases performance safely, while also helping with fuel atomization. It also cleans soot buildup out of the cylinder heads and intake runners caused by the EGR.
The LML’s also tend to have head gasket failures more than any other Duramax. To fix this, we highly recommend OEM grade C head gaskets paired with the ARP head studs, you can find all of those parts in the Engine Upgrades category here on our site.Vinny's Top Picks
- 2007.5-2010 (LMM)
Duramax 2007.5 - 2010 LMM
So you got an LMM Duramax. There are issues with these trucks, but we’re here to simplify and help you navigate those issues.
The number one problem with all Duramax trucks is the fact that they do not have a factory-supplied lift pump from 2001-2016. This puts a lot of strain on the injection system, which can result in major engine failure.
Check out the Fass Fuel System here on our site, it’s the number one upgrade you HAVE to do to a Duramax.
Once that’s been addressed, we move on to the second issue, which is the extremely faulty Diesel Emissions Equipment.
The EGR is pumping hot, dirty soot back through your intake system. Over time, this can cause a lot of engine issues, poor fuel economy, and reduced engine power. The only legal solution we can offer to fix this issue is water methanol injection. Snow Performance makes a really nice Stage 3 kit, which cleans this soot buildup out of your engine, and with continued use, this will never be an issue again.
Water methanol cleans up the combustion event, which reduces soot at the source. This means better engine operation, increased performance, and better fuel economy.Vinny's Top Picks
- 2006-2007 (LBZ)
Duramax 2006 - 2007 LBZ
Knowing what we know about the LBZ Duramax, we honestly don’t understand the cult following that this particular engine has. It’s not that much different than the LLY or the LMM.
The LLY, LBZ, and LMM all use a CP3 injection pump, very similar injectors, and the exact same turbo.
They all have EGR, but the LBZ is the last engine available without the much-hated Diesel Particulate filter.
The biggest problem with all Duramax engines is the firing order. It puts a ton of strain on the front of the crankshaft, resulting in broken cranks in rare cases.
The most important thing you can upgrade on any Duramax is the addition of a FASS Fuel System. Your truck does not have a factory lift pump; this puts a lot of strain on the CP3 and can result in injector failures, which can turn into cracked pistons. A Fass is super cheap insurance to ensure you don’t lose thousands of your hard-earned dollars.Vinny's Top Picks

Welcome to review diesel! You have an LLY Duramax and you’ve probably read some horror stories about this particular engine. Don’t worry, we’ll let you know exactly what you need to do to make it reliable! This is the first year that all Duramax’s came with an EGR cooler, and also the first year the injectors protruded through the valve cover instead of being hidden under it.This is also the Duramax engine with the smallest intake ports. This resulted in more common head gasket failures. A set of ARP head studs will fix this once and for all.All Duramax’s have injector failure issues caused by the nonexistent lift pump. You definitely need a Fass Fuel System to keep this from happening!Vinny's Top Picks

Duramax 2001 - 2004 LB7
So you have an LB7 Duramax, and you’ve probably read all the stupid comments on the internet about LB7 injector issues. This is the dumbest thing we’ve ever read. ALL Duramax’s have injector issues, and the reason is, none of them have a factory lift pump until the L5P. So your LB7 needs a Fass Fuel System! All Duramax’s need a Fass Fuel System.Your LB7 is a great engine, don’t let anyone on the interwebs convince you otherwise. The injectors are located under the valve cover making them a lot harder to swap out, but that’s the only difference between the LB7 and later models. You do have the only non-VGT turbo of all the Duramax’s which is a much more reliable and trouble free design. If you have questions about your truck, hit us up, we’re here to help!Vinny's Top Picks
