Overview

The Keating Machine 24-Valve Billet Tappet Cover VP44 w/o Breather Port is a precision billet upgrade for 1998.5–2002 Cummins 5.9L 24-valve engines equipped with the VP44 injection pump. Keating Machine CNC-machines this cover from billet aluminum to replace the factory stamped steel tappet cover with improved rigidity and sealing.

Breather Configuration

This non-ported version is intended for engines that retain the factory crankcase breather located on the front timing cover above the VP44 injection pump. Because of this, the tappet cover does not add an additional breather. As a result, it works well for OEM-style ventilation systems that do not need extra crankcase airflow.

Sealing & Hardware

An included O-ring seals directly against the engine block. This design eliminates the need for paper gaskets. Therefore, it helps reduce oil leaks caused by heat and vibration. Keating Machine also includes stainless steel hardware for corrosion resistance and long-term serviceability.

Internal Design & Fitment

This tappet cover supports factory flat mushroom tappets or drop-in tappets. However, it does not provide clearance for aftermarket roller lifters. Additionally, the internal design allows the engine computer to mount back in the stock location using factory bolts with hex heads.

This cover installs as a direct bolt-on upgrade for VP44 Cummins builds that prioritize durability, clean fitment, and OEM-style crankcase ventilation without added breather ports.
