The Fleece Performance Cheetah Turbocharger is a stock-appearing, drop-in replacement turbo for 2017-2023 Duramax L5P applications. Fleece designed the Cheetah to deliver more power while maintaining OEM factory turbocharger functions, including the exhaust brake.

Gaskets Included with the Cheetah

Fleece includes several required gaskets with the turbocharger. Therefore, the package includes the following items:

• One EGR tube gasket to intake bridge
• One EGR coolant pipe gasket
• One PCV to compressor cover gasket
• Three gaskets for coolant feed, coolant return, and oil feed
• One turbine housing to catalyst gasket
• Two oil drain gaskets
• One pedestal gasket

Original Turbo Actuator Required

The Cheetah Turbocharger is sold without an actuator. Therefore, installation requires the vehicle’s original actuator or an applicable replacement actuator.

For 2017-2019 L5P applications, listed GM actuator part numbers include 12723306, 12683993, and 12683982.

For 2020-2023 L5P applications, listed GM actuator part numbers include 12723081 and 12707578.

Additionally, this Cheetah replaces OEM turbocharger part number 12723305 for 2017-2019 applications and OEM part number 12723083 for 2020-2023 applications.

Stock Intake Horn and Airbox Recommended

For optimal performance in most applications, Fleece recommends using the stock intake horn and stock airbox with the Cheetah. According to Fleece, aftermarket intake horns and airboxes can affect MAF sensor readings and negatively impact overall turbocharger performance.

Therefore, Fleece recommends the factory intake horn and airbox for peak Cheetah performance on a stock truck application.

Aftermarket Parts and Compressor Surge

Other modifications can also affect MAF sensor readings or lower overall engine RPM. These changes can include aftermarket intakes, air filters, intake horns, throttle sensitivity boosters, and larger diameter tires.

Under certain loads and very low engine RPM, trucks using some of these parts may experience compressor surge. Additionally, Fleece notes that this is more likely on models equipped with the 10-speed transmission.

If this occurs, the transmission should be downshifted to avoid operating the engine at low RPM and lugging the engine.

Performance Module Compatibility

When using the stock airbox and stock intake horn, Fleece states that a quality performance module can complement the overall drivability of the Cheetah.

Examples provided by Fleece include the Edge HT2 and Banks Derringer. Therefore, owners considering a performance module should also pay attention to the recommended intake configuration and overall MAF sensor operation.
