The A1 6R140 Stage 2 Transmission for 2011+ Ford F-250/F-350 is built to handle 1,000+ horsepower with upgraded billet components for added strength and reliability. Transmission Build Overview
The A1 Stage 3 E40D transmission eliminates factory weak points while supporting extreme power and long-term reliability. Throughout the build, technicians use GPZ clutches and steels and machine the unit to allow for additional clutch capacity. The transmission also features a fully splined FWD drum, billet input shaft, billet intermediate shaft, billet OD planet housing, and a rollerized design to reduce friction and heat.
Internal Upgrades and Reinforcements
To address common failure points, the build includes new roller clutches, upgraded sprags, updated bushings, new molded pistons, and a new OE solenoid pack. In addition, technicians machine and upgrade the center support with a new bearing, a one-piece case bushing, and an OD piston spiral lock for added durability. They properly shim output shaft endplay and install new speed sensors to ensure accurate operation.
Hydraulic Modifications and Cooling
Additionally, custom pump hydraulic modifications and a custom accumulator body improve hydraulic performance. The build converts the torque converter clutch apply system to a non-PWM style, which increases holding power and reliability. To further improve cooling, the transmission includes a cooler bypass delete kit along with a new 4×4 pan and filter where applicable.
Torque Converter and Power Handling
Power transfer relies on an A1-spec billet cover triple disc dampened torque converter with Allison bearings, along with a custom Precision Industries converter. As a result, Gen2 Blue friction materials and Kolene steels provide superior holding power under load.
Applications and Warranty
Ultimately, this transmission supports applications producing 1,000 horsepower or more and is available in both 2WD and 4WD configurations. Each unit includes a 2-year unlimited mileage warranty covering build defects and workmanship.
