FICM Programming – The Power of FICM Tuning
-
By Vinny Himes
Ever wonder what FICM Programming can do for your 6.0L Powerstroke? Well you are in the right place. In this review, Vinny Himes (@vinnydiesel) gives his honest before and after comparison review of FICM programming using the Power Hungry Performance FICM Tuner and the powerful effect it can have in the hands of those who know how to use it (which isn’t that difficult, just go here).
In the following video we take a fresh, bare-bones 6.0L Powerstroke and apply simple FICM tuning using the PHP tuner. The results are powerful, adding horsepower, improving throttle response times, and improving overall performance. If you are looking to affordable and quickly increase performance on your stock 6.0L Powerstroke, then FICM tuning with a PHP tuner is the way to go. Check out the following video to see the before and after result when applying a FICM tune, nothing else.
Choose Your FICM Tune: With Four Distinct Power Levels to Fit Your Needs:
- ECONOMY – Improved throttle response and economy without any significant power gains. Good for all applications, but generally used when the ECM has a high horsepower tune and additional fueling is not desired.
- ATLAS 40 – Improved throttle response and economy with a 40 HP gain. Useful for mild to heavy towing or when excessive exhaust gas temps (EGTs) are a concern. Good for trucks without head studs.
- ATLAS 80 – Improved throttle response and economy with an 80 HP gain. Best for daily driving or very light towing.
- HERCULES – Maximum performance with a 100+ HP gain. Not recommended for towing as it can increase EGTs. It’s recommended you run an EGT probe to monitor temps. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR TRUCKS WITHOUT HEAD STUDS.
Of course, if you are looking to get even more performance and horsepower out of your engine, then you’ll need to do more than simply applying a FICM tune, but for the purposes of this review, we wanted to show you the power that a simple tune can have on your bare bones stock truck.
